Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands PC System Requirements

  March 23, 2022

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands PC System Requirements

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is one of the most hotly anticipated, fantasy looter shooters of 2022. It takes the much loved Borderlands 2 DLC and turns it into a full game of its own, blurring Dungeons and Dragons with the more traditional levelling, questing, and gunning of the previous Borderlands games.

Made in typical Borderlands style, it’s a good looking game too, so if you want to make the most of this early-2022 release, you’re going to want a decent PC to run it.

But just how decent?

Like previous Borderlands games, Tiny Tina’s Wonderland graphics are more about style than substance, with a unique art direction that means even if you’re gaming on a potato of a PC you should be able to get it going.

Developer Gearbox has made a point of keeping the bare minimum specifications simple enough that most gaming PCs from the past five years shouldn’t have any trouble getting it going. Still, if you want to run it at full detail and ultra-high resolutions and maintain a high frame rate, you’re going to need something a little heftier.

If you’re excited by what Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has to offer, here’s what you need to get it running.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Minimum Hardware Requirements

As it’s based on Unreal Engine 4 and will have a similar art style to Borderlands 3, the minimum system requirements are both similar to that game, and very undemanding. If you just want to get this game up and running at 1080p with most of the settings on low and a steady 30 FPS, you’re going to be able to play it on just about anything.

That said, here’s a list of minimum hardware requirements released by Gearbox and 2K:

Minimum Requirements

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 or AMD FX-8350

RAM: 6GB

Graphics: Nvidia GTX 960 4GB, or AMD Radeon RX 470

Storage: 75GB

Operating System: Windows 10

If you have a gaming PC from any time in the past five years, you should be able to meet or exceed these demands, making Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands more than playable for you. Also, if you have a slightly better CPU or GPU, which isn’t entirely unlikely if you play other contemporary games, you’ll be able to enjoy higher frame rates or raise the detail levels.

If your PC is around this level, you’ll be able to turn up the detail settings like Character Detail, Ambient Occlusion, and Screen Space Reflections up to medium. Although you’ll probably still want to keep settings for Anti-Aliasing, Draw Distance, and Shadows on low, to maximize performance.

A fast-paced game like this really benefits from higher frame rates more than it does from higher detail settings – even if a better-looking game is always nice.

If you don’t have a gaming PC that can meet these specs, or don’t have a gaming PC at all, however, meeting these specifications exactly might be a little tricky.

The CPUs are around a decade old and the graphics cards are more than five years old, too. If you’re buying second hand, you might be able to find something that’s in the ballpark of these components, but if you’re buying new instead, you can get something much more capable which will deliver a more exciting gaming experience.

A Modern PC For The Minimum Specs

If you’re buying a new gaming PC just to hit the minimum system requirements, you’ll be able to put together a decent gaming PC for well under £1,000.

Any processor from the recent generations from either AMD or Intel will do just nicely; something like an Intel Core i3-10100F, or AMD Ryzen 3300X would be perfect. Alternatively, if you want to buy something from the latest generation that isn’t going to blow too big a hole in your budget, the upcoming AMD Ryzen 5500, or Intel Core i3 12100 will be more than enough.

All of these chips have at least four cores, which deliver plenty of multi-threaded performance for this sort of game. And they are vastly more capable than either of the ones recommended by the minimum specs above.

The only other major consideration is graphics. For that, you’ll want to opt for an Nvidia GTX 1650 or an AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT.

Anything more powerful than that is going to get much more expensive and will be far more than you need just to get this game up and running. Even then, the power of these GPUs, particularly the RX 6500 XT, vastly exceeds that demanded by the minimum specifications. So, you should easily be able to turn up most settings to medium and still enjoy close to 60 FPS throughout most of the game.

Don’t forget storage and memory

For storage and memory, any generic 8GB kit will do, although you might find the general PC experience will be improved by having 16GB to ward off memory holes when web browsing or using heavy-handed applications.

You’ll also want an SSD, even though it isn’t mandated by this game. The load times and Windows boot times are so much faster than on a traditional hard drive. And there’s barely a cost difference between a reasonably priced and sized SSD and most hard drives, so be sure to install Tiny Tina’s Wonderland on at least a SATA SSD.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Recommended Hardware Requirements

A slight jump up from the minimum requirements comes the recommended requirements. And in a similar style to the minimum specifications, these are identical to those recommended to run Borderlands 3.

If you managed to run that game without issue, then by all means your current PC should be more than capable of running Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands as it’s only been 3 years of possible graphical improvements since the last release in the series.

Recommended Requirements

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 2600

RAM: 16GB

Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB, or AMD Radeon RX 590 8GB

Storage: 75GB

Operating System: Windows 10

A quick comparison with the minimum specs shows where the additional demands are here.

The Intel Core i7-4770 isn’t a modern CPU by any means, but it’s still capable and would have rivalled some of AMD’s newer mid-range CPUs just a few years ago. That’s why it’s twinned with the Ryzen 2600, a great six-core CPU that’s only a few generations old.

They each have the performance power to deliver 60 FPS or more at 1080p when paired with a decent graphics card.

That’s exactly what you get with these system requirements too, as though neither the Nvidia GTX 1060 nor the Radeon RX 590 are modern GPUs by any standard, they are still some of the most beloved GPUs in gaming PCs today. The 1060 in particular is the most used graphics card for PC gaming for the past couple of years.

That potent combination of CPU and GPU will let you play Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands at 1080p, with all settings at or near maximum, and at a comfortable 60 FPS in most areas of the game.

You might have to sacrifice a few frames to get everything at the absolute bleeding edge, or if you want to dabble with 1440p, but you really shouldn’t. A 60 FPS experience that is near ultra quality at 1080p is far more preferable for a fast game like this than a 30 FPS 1440p experience.

GPUs still aren’t coming easy

Since these are popular components, buying a second-hand PC with a GTX 1060, or an AMD Ryzen 2600 is going to be relatively easy – or at least it would be, if graphics card pricing still wasn’t way out of line with what it should be in 2022.

Popular GPUs like these are hard to find and gaming PCs with them inside are priced higher than they should be, making it arguably a better choice to buy something new that will last you for many more years to come – and has an intact warranty for you to lean on if it doesn’t.

A Modern PC For The Recommended Specs

If you’re buying a modern gaming PC to play Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, then you’ll be able to get something comparable to the recommended specs listed above for between £1,000 and £1,200. That’ll get you a PC that will play any modern game at 1080p with most settings turned up pretty high and will give you many years of happy gaming to come.

The most affordable CPU you could pick would be an Intel Core i5-10400F. It gives you six cores and 12 threads, and a 4.3GHz boost clock that provides all the processing power needed for solid everyday gaming performance, and high frame rates in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

If you want to go with the latest generation of CPUs, though, there’s also a Core i5-12400F, or AMD Ryzen 5600. Both of these are some of the best gaming processors of their generation. It’s overkill for these recommended specs, but either would ensure that you have a powerful gaming PC for much longer and opens up the potential for easier upgrades in the future.

Graphics Card Options for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

As for graphics, you’ll want at least an Nvidia GTX 1660, or a GTX 1660 Super if the money isn’t too different. If you want an AMD card, the 6500 XT recommended above will suffice, though you’ll see a bigger jump in performance with a Radeon RX 6600.

Either card is more than capable of handling ultra settings at 1080p with a smooth 60 FPS frame rate throughout the entire game. If you have a high refresh rate monitor, you might even like to turn down some of the settings to push frame rates to around 100, delivering more fluid action and a more responsive gaming experience.

That could be even more important if you’re playing with friends, as having a higher FPS can make you a faster gamer by lowering input lag. This will make you not only more helpful to your friends, but when it comes to tallying up kills, you’ll have a greater chance of standing head and shoulders above their efforts.

What About Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands at 1440p and 4k?

If you want to play Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands at 1440p or even 4K resolution (even though the game is well optimized and designed with weaker hardware in mind) you’re still going to need a more powerful system; particularly when it comes to graphics.

These resolutions put much greater stress on a GPU, and if you want to maintain those high frame rates for this high-speed action game, you’ll need that extra graphical power to shoulder the load.

For a 1440p experience, an Nvidia GTX 3060 Ti would be a great pick.

Although it isn’t typically marketed for 1440p, in a game like this which is otherwise quite lightweight, it’d be more than enough. Alternatively, if you can find it at a better price or you’re more of an AMD fan, a Radeon RX 6600 XT is a great pick for this sort of high FPS, 1440p experience.

4K Options

For 4K gaming, the sky really is the limit with how much you want to spend.

The most affordable 4K graphics card is the Nvidia RTX 3070, or AMD’s Radeon RX 6800, but they’re still not cheap. And in other games, they won’t be enough to really deliver a consistent 4K experience with high frame rates.

If you’re going to build a gaming PC for 4K with a 4K monitor, even though Tina Tina’s Wonderlands doesn’t’ demand it, you want a more powerful GPU than these.

The quintessential 4K gaming graphics card in 2022 is the Nvidia RTX 3080. It has 10GB of high-speed GDDR6X memory, and all the CUDA cores you need for a great 4K gaming experience.

Alternatively, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT gives it a run for its money – though less so in games with ray tracing and DLSS support. Or you could really max out your budget with some of the extremely expensive top-tier cards, like the RTX 3080 Ti, or RX 6900 XT.

These GPUs are complete overkill for a game like this, but if you want to play at 4K with all settings at maximum and still have the highest frame rates, you’re going to need to reach deep to get them. The benefit is that once you’re done with Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, you’ll be able to play anything else at 4K too.
