Battlefield 2042 hasn’t had the smoothest of times since its release back in November 2021. But, with various updates, patches and new season releases, it’s slowly climbing its way back into players’ hearts.
If you steered clear of the game during its initial release but find yourself wanting to try it now, you may be asking yourself: can my PC run Battlefield 2042?
If upon cross-referencing your build to the specifications in the tables below you find that they fall short, you may need to think about either upgrading individual components, or simply upgrading to a new PC entirely.
So, let’s take a look at the minimum and recommended PC specs you should aim for in order to play Battlefield 2042.
Battlefield 2042 Minimum PC Specs
Minimum Specs | |
Operating System | 64-bit Windows 10 |
Processor (Intel) | Core i5 6600K |
Processor (AMD) | AMD FX-8350 |
Memory | 8GB |
GPU (Nvidia) | Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti |
GPU (AMD) | AMD Radeon RX 560 |
DirectX | 12 |
Storage | 100GB |
Systems that fall within these specifications will likely provide a relatively decent 1080p gaming experience, hitting an average of 40 frames per second, but will be limited to graphical settings on low.
This is fine if you don’t care too much about visuals or about rivalling the faster and more competitive frame rates of the enemy teams. But for an all-around more enjoyable experience, you’re better off sticking with the recommended specs and above.
Both the CPU and GPU are multiple generations old now which suggests that just about any PC from the past 5 years will get this game up and running. However, you will have to sacrifice newer features such as ray tracing and DLSS capabilities when using a GTX 10 series graphics card.

Battlefield 2042 Recommended PC Specs
Recommended Specs | |
Operating System | 64-bit Windows 10 |
Processor (Intel) | Core i7 4790 |
Processor (AMD) | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 |
Memory | 16GB |
GPU (Nvidia) | Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 |
GPU (AMD) | AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT |
DirectX | 12 |
Storage | 100GB |
Systems that fall within these specifications will likely provide an excellent gameplay experience at both 1080p and 1440p, keeping framerates high whilst maintaining visual integrity.
However, some players’ tests have revealed that the AMD 6600XT GPU actually performs slightly better than the Nvidia 3060 at 1080p and 1440p when settings are dialled all the way up to ultra. So this may sway your GPU purchasing decision if you are looking to build a custom PC to play Battlefield 2042.
Battlefield 2042 4K PC Specs
There are no official 4K specs released from EA DICE for Battlefield 2042, but going by the recommended specs and what’s needed to play similar games at 4K, it’s probably a good idea to stick with the typical 4K GPU powerhouse: the Nvidia RTX 3080.
To avoid any bottle-necking, it should be paired with a CPU from at least the last 2 generations (Intel’s 10th gen and AMD’s 3000 series). Although you’re more likely to get better performance and value for money in the long run when pairing it with a latest generation CPU.
What PC Do You Need?
What PC you need for Battlefield 2042 all depends on the type of gameplay experience you desire. If you want to play the game at 1440p on a high refresh-rate monitor with settings set to high (or even ultra), then you’ll need to aim for a top-tier system.
However, if you don’t care as much for super realistic graphics and instead want to focus more on achieving the highest framerates possible, then a slightly lower-tier PC would suit your needs.
Fortunately, both the minimum and recommended PC specs currently released by EA aren’t too taxing. They make use of last-generation components which means that most systems built with these specs in mind won’t be too heavy on the wallet.
