Two days after Malta’s national bank celebrated Safer Internet Day, all of the country’s banking services were killed because of a hack attack. Prime Minister Joseph Muscat told the Maltese Parliament that all branches, all ATMs, all mobile banking, all email services and all of the bank’s retailer payment terminals had been shut down across the land, thanks to “overseas cyber intruders” trying to steal millions. In doing so the cyber-crooks also managed to wipe out the bank’s website and nameservers.
This is the first time that banking has been completely scuppered in an EU country, and Chillblast sincerely hopes it will be the last. We thoroughly disapprove of all hacking activity, and suggest that if computer-savvy people really wanted to gain a financial advantage thanks to cutting-edge computer technology then they should take advantage of our brilliant discount bargains on our SALE page.
