UK’s Most Awarded PC Manufacturer

As one of the top manufacturers of UK gaming computers, Chillblast is no stranger to winning awards. In fact, we’ve taken first place in the PC Pro Excellence Awards (previously known as the ‘Reliability and Service Awards’) a record ten times. We’ve also been named ‘Desktop Retailer of the Year’ by PC Advisor for four consecutive years.

But doesn’t mean competition wasn’t intense. Chillblast was up against some of the biggest names in the industry, including Apple, Dell, PC Specialist and Scan. In the most recent round of awards (2018), Chillblast took first place with an astounding 97% customer satisfaction rating.

The secret to our consistently high rankings and stellar customer-satisfaction ratings is simple. You see, from the time that you enquire about a Chillblast gaming computer to the moment it’s delivered, you’ll be dealing with representatives who really understand your needs. That’s because Chillblast only employs PC experts – even for customer service positions.

When you call in, you’ll rarely have to wait before speaking to a representative. And we also check our email regularly in order to offer prompt call-backs. The result is a seamless service model in which you’re kept in the loop and confident that the representative you’re dealing with understands your technical needs and expectations.

5 Year Warranty (Terms & Conditions Apply)

Given the fact that we manufacturer some of the best gaming desktops currently available, it should come as no surprise that we’re willing to stand beside our craftsmanship. Chillblast’s industry-leading warranty offers two phases of protection.

Our standard warranty begins with a two-year collect-and-return package, during which time we offer local-rate telephone support and unlimited repairs. We’ll both collect and return your custom pc at no charge. This applies to all models – whether you purchased a cheap gaming desktop or an ultra-high-spec custom built PC.

But we don’t stop there. Chillblast also offers an additional three years of warranty coverage after your collect-and-return package expires. During those three years, we’ll continue to provide labour-only support.

We believe this is one of the best warranties available from any custom PC builder in the UK. And if you’re looking for additional peace of mind, we also offer a 3 Year Gold Collect-and-Return Warranty as a potential add-on for desktop PCs specifically.

Buy a gaming desktop or custom build PC from Chillblast, and the benefits continue long after that initial five-year period. Even out of warranty, Chillblast is delighted to offer customers exclusive upgrades and repair services with discounted parts and subsidised collection, delivery and labour charges.

The full terms and conditions of our warranty can be found here.

If you have a question that is not answered or the answer below is too technical please email us: support@chillblast.com

Please note, there are 3 variants of the Chillblast WAP products now. Each sections is entitled: WAP Pro v2 / WAP Pro / WAP (original)

Please ensure you are reading the correct information for the model you have.

WAP Pro v2 (Current Model)

Q. How do I get into the UEFI BIOS?

A. Restart the system and press Esc or Del on the keyboard repeatedly (i.e. 2 or 3 times a second) when the PC turns off and starts booting up again.

Q. How do I access the UEFI Boot Menu?

A. Restart the system and press F7 to get into the Boot Menu.

Note - because the system is UEFI the USB or DVD must be UEFI bootable for it to show up in the list

Q. What Operating Systems are Supported?

A. Technically we only support Windows 10 on these devices as we're a Microsoft Partner. However, we do not restrict this, so you're welcome to change the OS yourself.

We have limited experience with Linux based operating systems, so we are unable to provide technical assistance with any Linux based issue. However, we have done the following testing:

Working: ubuntu-18.04.1-desktop-amd64; elementaryos-5.0-stable.20181016; linuxmint-19.1-cinnamon-64bit; Zorin-OS-12.4-Core-64

Not Working: All 32-bit Linux Versions we tested

Our definition of 'working' is that it boots from a USB and installs and appears to function, i.e. loading a web page and a few basic pre-installed apps. We do not test stability or even 'full' functionality, like audio, bluetooth or wifi.

Q. What drivers are required?

A. As of our testing of Windows v1903:

Technically none are 'required' for functionality in Windows 10. The system should work on a 'clean' install of Windows 10 once all Windows Updates are completed.

Any driver 'warnings' in Device Manager are just 'labels' that are missing from the devices and it will not negatively affect the functionality of the system at all.

At the point of writing, the only one missing is one of Intel's Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework component's labels which can be downloaded here.

Q. Can I PXE Boot the Device? Also known as Network Stack or LAN Remote Boot

A. Yes you can UEFI PXE or HTTP boot (i.e. Network Stack is available in the UEFI BIOS with both IPv4 and IPv6 support)

This has only been tested with WinPE and WDS but other PXE options should work just the same. A 64-bit UEFI boot image is required.

Q. Is Secure Boot Enabled?

A. This will be Enabled out of the factory but there is the option to Disable Secure Boot in the UEFI BIOS, though this is not recommended under normal circumstances.

Q. Will the system switch back on automatically after a power loss event?

A. Yes. This is always Enabled and cannot be turned off on this model.

Q. Can I use WoL (Wake on LAN)?

A. Yes, this is an option in the UEFI BIOS, however we have not validated the functionality.

Q. Can I upgrade the hardware?

A. Yes, you can add in the 2.5" Drive for data storage but otherwise the hardware is fixed and not upgradable.

WAP Pro

Q. How do I get into the UEFI BIOS?

Q. What drivers are required?

A. As of our testing of Windows v1803 (same applies to v1809):

Technically none are 'required' for functionality in Windows 10. The system should work on a 'clean' install of Windows 10 once all Windows Updates are completed.

Any driver 'warnings' in Device Manager are just 'labels' that are missing from the devices and it will not negatively affect the functionality of the system at all.

WAP (Original)

The original WAP system was sold exclusively through ebuyer and kicked off our love for mini PCs like this.

It was a 32-bit UEFI BIOS with a 64-bit processor which was a touch confusing, we must admit, and runs 32-bit UEFI Windows 10 and has 2GB of RAM. The WAP Pro came about because of demand from our customers for a 64-bit system with 4GB of RAM, so this just goes to show that your feedback really does help shape our products.

Q. What Operating Systems are Supported?

A. Technically we only support Windows 10 32-bit on these devices as we're a Microsoft Partner. However, we do not restrict this, so you're welcome to change the OS yourself.

We have limited experience with Linux based operating systems, so we are unable to provide technical assistance with any Linux based issue. However, we have done the following testing:

Working:

debian-10.0.0-amd64-netinst / debian-10.0.0-amd64-i386-netinst

*Some units require Realtek Firmware files: BT / WiFi in firmware folder on the USB for install | installs 64-bit Debian

elementaryos-5.0-stable.20181016 / linuxmint-19.2-cinnamon-64bit / lubuntu-19.04-desktop-amd64 / ubuntu-19.04-desktop-amd64 / ubuntu-18.04.2-desktop-amd64 / Zorin-OS-15-Core-64-bit-r1

*using 32-bit uefi boot efi | installs 64-bit with 32-bit UEFI bootloader

Not Working:

debian-10.0.0-i386-netinst / Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-30-1.2 / linuxmint-19.2-cinnamon-32bit / OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64-8.0.4.img / ubuntu-16.04.6-desktop-i386 / ubuntu-16.04.6-server-i386 / ubuntu-16.04.6-server-amd64 / ubuntu-18.04.3-live-server-amd64 / ubuntu-19.04-live-server-amd64 / Zorin-OS-12.4-Core-32 / Zorin-OS-12.4-Lite-32

*'not working' symptoms include: the USB showing up as 'bootable' but when selected the system went to a black screen for a second or two and then just ignored the USB and continued to load Windows instead; install appearing to work but unable to boot into OS; booting to GRUB loader but no further.

Q. What's different about a clean Windows 10 install to this device?

This assumes you're familiar with the 'clean' install process for Windows 10. It also assumes that the system is not in a state where you can 'reset' Windows.

You need to create a Windows 10 USB using the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. During the creation it will ask what sort of Windows USB you'd like to create (i.e. 64-bit or 32-bit or Both) - choose Both! This will make the USB UEFI bootable but once it boots you can select to install 32-bit Windows.

Q. Can I install 64-Bit Windows?

A. No, and you probably wouldn't want to. 64-bit Windows uses almost double the amount of RAM just idling, so the 2GB in this model would be saturated just loading Windows which would lead to a very poor user experience.

Q. What drivers are required?

A. This stated with Windows v1709 (same applies to v1803 and v1809):

Technically none are 'required' for functionality in Windows 10. The system should work on a 'clean' install of Windows 10 once all Windows Updates are completed.

Any driver 'warnings' in Device Manager are just 'labels' that are missing from the devices and it will not negatively affect the functionality of the system.

At the point of writing, there are a few missing ones which can be downloaded here.

An exception to this rule is the models with 'Broadcom' WiFi modules which have some strange driver issues with builds of Windows from 1803 onwards. Please contact us if you have one of these models and require further driver assistance.

Q. Can I PXE Boot the Device? Also known as Network Stack or LAN Remote Boot

A. Yes you can UEFI PXE boot (i.e. Network Stack is available in the UEFI BIOS with both IPv4 and IPv6 support)

We have validated that this will boot to a 32-Bit UEFI Image stored on a WDS Server via PXE.

Q. Is Secure Boot Enabled?

A. This will be Enabled out of the factory and there is no option to Disable it in the UEFI BIOS.

Q. Will the system switch back on automatically after a power loss event?

A. No, but this can be Enabled in the UEFI BIOS.

Q. Can I use WoL (Wake on LAN)?

A. No, this isn't an option on this model.

Q. Can I upgrade the hardware?

A. No, it's not designed to be upgraded and the components are soldered.
