Question: I have built my system but nothing happens
when I press the on switch / the fans spin but I get no response from the
monitor.
Have you attached all relevant power supply leads? Remember Pentium boards
have a 4 pin auxiliary power connector as well as the main loom. Have you just
changed your CPU? If so, remember to clear your computers CMOS for 5 seconds. Is
the switch on the back of your power supply set to 1 and not 0? Have you checked
the fuse in your PC's power cable? Have you made sure your board is not shorting
out on unneeded brass standoffs on the case? Is the standby power LED on your
board (if applicable) illuminated? If not your PSU may be dead. Have you
connected the Power on header correctly?
Question: My computer initiates a long beep and then
turns off?
If you are using a Soyo motherboard and a quiet / low speed fan, please hold
down insert, then once in the BIOSdisable Fan Off Control under "PC health
status". If using other boards make sure you have the CPU fan attached to the
correct CPU fan header, and that the cooler is making good contact with the CPU.
Question: Is it ok to start my machine without a CPU
cooler, just for a second?
No! Your CPU will reach several hundred degrees in just a few seconds and
burn. Always use a cooler and always use thermal paste.
Question: Will preparing a motherboard for use in a
vapochill / prometia invalidate my warranty?
Yes, putting thermal paste in and around the motherboards socket is very
difficult to remove and will not be credited by our suppliers. Please make sure
your motherboard works in a normal setup BEFORE installing it in a phase-change
cooling device.
Question: Can you get products other than those
available on your website?
Usually we can source any parts that you need, please be advised that a
special order may incur a more expensive shipping charge, or require importing
from another country. In these cases the customer is responsible for any / all
import charges.
Question: Will you ship to countries other than the
UK?
Yes, we are happy to ship worldwide. Please be advised shipping charges may
be inaccurate as calculated by our website, so please ask for a quote before
your order. If your order has a very expensive shipping charge we will confirm
it with you via email before shipping.
Question: My system is up and running but game 'X, Y
or Z' is not working!
Check for the latest graphics card drivers at
www.ati.com and
www.nvidia.com. Also check for
patches at your game developer's website. Bare in mind some PC games will simply
not work on the latest hardware.
Question: What is overclocking and how do I do it?
Overclocking is any method of making a piece of computer equipment run
faster than it was designed to. The most commonly overclocked components are
graphics cards and processors as these have the most impact on games
performance.
Question: Is overclocking safe?
Provided you carefully pick your components and increase in small
increments and do not increase the voltage by more than 10%, in general it is.
